When I fell back into the addiction trap recently I did not hesitate to come back, there is no judgment, just a genuine concern to help me get and remain free.
He is very well read and I learned so much about my psychology and how to unblock my thinking. He has an amazing knowledge of his subject, he is passionate about helping people escape from the trap and is very compassionate. The staff are all fantastic and I have to specifically thank Chris Hay for taking time to get to know me during our sessions, to understand my triggers and to tailor his sessions to providing me with the tools I needed to finally be free.
I have since tackled a range other addictions via books, workshops, 1-1 sessions and videos. I was a very heavy smoker and originally used the book then attended the workshop to quit. I cannot begin to say how grateful I am to have found Allen Carr. Do it! I still don’t understand why this is not readily available through the nhs!Īllen Carr has totally transformed my life! I walked out leaving my half pack of rags in the room and never looked back. It makes you feel like that cigarette is very irrelevant. It really just questions why you really smoke and busts a lot of myths so that by the end of it you just sit of see through the smoke (intended) and mirrors of smoking. All I can say is that it is all based on logic, no mumbo-jumbo or hypnosis or aliens. If it worked, why isn’t it everywhere, nhs, commercials, nah no way. I went to see what on earth anyone could say over a few hours that would make me just drop this habit?! It’s just not possible, it’s a big old marketing thing surely. I generally had a standing wish to stop smoking but like most smokers, I tried to quit and then lit one up at the next best opportunity with all the excuses. We had a voucher through our Health Insurance at Work for an Allen Carr session to stop smoking so I went out of pure curiosity. They were very welcoming when I arrived, spoke kindly and made me feel really alright, despite the fact it was quite a long journey (from Peterborough) on motorways that I am not familiar with, and was also a bit wobbly about the whole issue of smoking, quitting, you know all that stuff. Incidentally, The Holiday Inn at Coventry was a really nice venue. I think he will remain in my mind for a long time because he has actually made me realise how to escape from my addiction. I feel confident that the message has reached the spot for me, that I can sensibly tackle what has previously appeared to be a long-standing insurmountable problem: this foolish association with cigarettes. Rob delivered exactly what I hoped for - a balance of common sense, straight forward facts, a clear message, peppered here and there with references to Allen Carr who he had clearly been in awe of.
He spoke so confidently, his smile so warm and reassuring, his knowledge limitless, so quick to give sensible and properly targeted advice for those questions asked, even though (on reflection) I think I must have put him of his stride once or twice. I feel so blessed, so lucky to have had the session with Rob who spoke with such warmth, such certainty, he found exactly the right level for me, he clearly knew his material. I'm just home from attending a seminar led by Rob in the Holiday Inn, Coventry today.
